This is fabulous! I'd love to know more of its genesis. This autumn, I found an adder, thick as my arm, basking in the long grass in the verges near my house. Yesterday, it returned to me in hypnagogic dream, and I felt certain that this adder lives on in my belly. Feels like adders are ready to speak, and I feel ready to listen.
As a fan of your Scarlet Imprint work, I’m delighted to see you diving into this format, and this vivid poetic imagery is marvelous. I look forward to seeing more!
Thanks Ron, I've been very heartened by the interactions with my work here, which is encouraging me to write more in this more immediate environment than just books.
Beautiful, impactful prose, sir. I am grateful for, despite growing up in the Bible Belt of the American South, being free of compulsory religious services because my father viewed them all as hypocrites. Long live the heretics who feel kinship with the creatures of earth!
Thanks Michael, my church school had that particularly dreary and lacklustre form of christianity that England specialised in. I was able to express my lack of belief without excessive censure, not the Bible Belt experience! The tide really went out on Christianity here post war, leaving the institutions hollow and a mumbling vague belief that was filled in on official forms but lacking in fire. Not so for those in JW and other denominations, but they are the exception.
Yes! All written and ready to edit. Alkistis has just got to finish work on the Tarot of Marsilio, and then we get down to the edit and layout of Lucifer: Praxis. Unbelievably excited to get this out in the world.
ahhh, excellent news! i'll have to re-read Princeps and see about selling some bone marrow in hopes of scoring one of your beautiful Fine Editions. Princeps blew me away and i can't wait to meet its companion.
Alas, we haven't set up bone marrow, blood or organ payments for fine editions yet, but sure that the tech bros will eventually make that the new online currency. Glad you enjoyed Princeps, sure you will love Praxis in whatever edition you secure.
“Its was a world at belly level with the pennywort and creeping toadflax, flowing over the plantains and tasting out with secret senses the quivering heartbeat and heatmap of prey”. Wonderful words Peter, thanks for taking us into the serpent’s realm.

Thanks Dan, I'll write more on the adder in the future. Glad to hear of your own encounter.

I love this more than I can say
Thankyou Rosie, enjoying your writing too.
Found you here via Rhyd Wildermuth. Very glad I did. Really looking forward to forthcoming essays! 🙏
Thanks Brian, Rhyd and I have been friends for a long time. Looking forward to writing more here.
Beautiful. I feel properly poisoned.
Maybe the church walls still consist of the adder's skin to this day.
The sheddings left behind to petrify and decompose.

This synchronizes perfectly with my obsession over The Devil tarot key. The nemesis is an agent of change that needs to be expertly handled.
As the serpent ready to strike lays silent and still, we practice in the shadows of society with feverish will.
Your writing inspires all that seek it.

Thanks Matthew. Appreciated.
