I read this on a hot and sweaty bus ride in Mauritius and was transported. Your writing is transporting. Anyone reading this must surely be in awe at the insight and research too.
wowowow! this goes a long way to explain why the brilliant but incrediby shy Mick Taylor had to get out of the biggest rock and roll band in the world at that time. he simply couldn't take all of this. this is an incredible piece. it covers alot. thank you
Some real treasures in this one. Had no idea about Anger's meeting with Hopper and Jodorowsky, those photos are incredible. The way you've described Faithful as haunting her scenes in LR is perfect too. She had a really rough time of things and I'd like to think that her later involvement with Derek Jarman bookended her involvement with magical film makers with a happy ending!
What a treat to really sit down and savor this piece and explore the links, especially on the heels of Marianne’s passing. I read her autobiography years ago. You captured the peculiar heavy timbre/atmosphere of that era so masterfully. You are one hell of a good researcher and writer, Peter! Always a pleasure to read your posts.
In a word, Wow! Peter, your writing has the tone of a gripping noir, peppered with hard-won insights that are rich and illuminating. Then, there are the links you provide as supplementary material - jewels, every one of them. The film entitled 'Tantra: Indian Rites of Ecstacy,' which I was not aware of, had me spellbound. Thank you.
I just stumbled upon this and the quality of the writing is sublime.
Thanks Andy, much appreciated, glad you are enjoying my work.
elemental writing ....

Just splendid! These essays are everything I hoped for and more.
Thanks Tod!

This is for lack of better words - epic :)
Thanks Sirius, every engagement with my work here makes a real difference to my visibility as a writer.
Thanks to you I'm now aware of, have fully consumed, tasted, and digested the LSD mindfuck that is Lucifer Rising.
And it was delicious!
These are great, Peter. I hope there's plans for these to shape up into a book at some point.
Absolutely.
That is a book I would pre-order years in advance in a heartbeat. :-)
Appreciate it. My other books are all available at www.scarletimprint.com and these essays will be collected and added to.
